Amber glass bottles as packaging material: Environmentally friendly with good UV protection

Glass bottles come in many different designs, sizes and shapes. However, different types of bottles are suitable depending on how they are used. In this article we will discuss some of the most common types of glass bottles and how they are typically used.

An overview of our amber glass range and its advantages

Why use glass packaging?

In the search for sustainable packaging material, you can’t overlook glass. It’s impressive due to its extraordinary barrier properties as well as a high resistance to aggressive filling material and heat. That’s why it’s particularly suitable for filling foodstuffs or essential oils.

As well as this, glass can be very easily recycled, not least because there is a specially established recycling system for glass. All these properties make glass a real alternative to plastic.

More than glass: the amber glass bottle

Amber glass has additional advantages too: it absorbs most UV radiation and in this way protects the filling material from possible changes. This property is useful, for example, for storing foodstuffs such as beer, because the taste of the barley juice could change due to the influence of light. Of course, amber glass bottles are also the perfect packaging material for all other substances that should be protected from (UV) light. They are used in a wide variety of applications – especially in the pharmaceutical sector and in pharmacies as well as in the field of food supplements.

Incidentally, the brown colouring of the glass is due to the addition of certain oxides during the manufacturing process.

The right bottle for every purpose

At Packari, glass packaging material is available in a number of designs and sizes and with a wide range of accessories.

Amber glass bottles
We offer amber glass bottles with a capacity of 5 to 500 ml and with 18 and 28 mm threads. In addition, you can also get the matching screw caps, droppers, measuring cups and soap pumps from us.

Pipette bottles
The practical glass bottles with pipette are available from Packari. They are ideal for essential oils or aromatherapy blends, for example.

Dropper bottles
Dropper caps make dosing easier because they ensure that the liquid content does not flow out but drips out instead. That being said though, the effectiveness of the dropper depends very much on the viscosity of the filling material. For this reason we strongly recommend that you test this out beforehand. The dropper bottles are popular for packaging essences and essential oils.

At Packari you will find dropper bottles(18 mm thread and from January 2021 with 28 mm thread) with a capacity of 5 ml to 50 ml.

Special bottles
Packari glass bottles are also available in many sizes in veral or slanted-shoulder design. These have a particularly high residual drainability and are therefore perfect for use as laboratory bottles or, food-safe, as syrup bottles, for example.

As specialists for packaging materials, we believe that there is the perfect container for every product, the right product for every requirement. And we’re happy to prove that to you – just ask!
